GLENDALE FIRE AND SOUTHWEST AMBULANCE CREWS SIGN CONTRACT EXTENSION
Keeps Southwest Glendale’s Exclusive 9-1-1 Ambulance Provider


(Glendale, Ariz. 6/21/07City of Glendale Firefighters and Southwest Ambulance crewmembers symbolically signed a three-year contract renewal keeping Southwest Ambulance as the exclusive 9-1-1 emergency medical ambulance provider through July of 2010.  An additional three-year renewal option remains available.

Crews were chosen to sign the symbolic contract- not Fire Chiefs or Ambulance Executives- to acknowledge that the extension is a result of the teamwork exemplified at the field level.  The legal renewal documents was officially signed by Southwest and City officials a couple of weeks earlier. 

“Southwest has worked very closely with the Glendale Fire Department and has been an excellent partner,” said Glendale Fire Chief Mark Burdick.  The skill and teamwork between the Glendale Fire and Southwest Ambulance crews and management teams are truly exemplary.”

“The extension is a result of the teamwork and partnerships Glendale Fire and Southwest crews demonstrate every day in the field so it’s only appropriate they share in the contract signing,” said Jeff Sargent, President of Southwest Ambulance.  “For more than 20 years we’ve had a trusted partnership with the Glendale Fire Department and we look forward to continuing to work together in serving the needs of the community for many years to come.”

Glendale, Arizona is located northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. During the past decade it has been one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and is Arizona's 4th largest city with a population of more than 250,000.  Glendale is home of the University of Phoenix Stadium where the Arizona Cardinals Football team plays, and Jobing.com Arena where the Phoenix Coyotes Hockey team plays. In the past year, Southwest completed an estimated 13,000 ambulance transports originating within Glendale.
