JEFF SARGENT PROMOTED TO PRESIDENT OF SOUTHWEST AMBULANCE; BARRY LANDON TO LEAD SPECIAL OPS AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF RURAL/METRO CORPORATION
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 10, 2007) -- Rural/Metro Corporation announced today that Jeff Sargent, formerly Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Southwest Ambulance, has been promoted to President of Southwest Ambulance and the Company's Arizona and Oregon Fire Divisions. Sargent succeeds Barry Landon, who has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Special Operations for Rural/Metro Corporation.
Jack Brucker, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are very pleased to welcome Jeff in his new role as President of Southwest Ambulance and the Company's Arizona and Oregon Fire Divisions. Sargent began his EMS career more than 15 years ago as an emergency medical technician for Southwest Ambulance in the metro-Phoenix market. He earned his Paramedic certification in 1992, and in 1995 was promoted to Area Manager for Mesa, Arizona EMS operations. He went on to become Operations Manager for all 911 services in the metro-Phoenix market, and in 1999 was promoted to General Manager for Southwest's Tucson, Arizona EMS operations. In January 2006, Sargent was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Southwest Ambulance and Arizona Fire Operations, with management oversight for Southwest's New Mexico and Utah markets. Sargent will report directly to Jack Brucker.
Landon's focus will be on enhancing local, regional, and national operational performance. "Barry brings significant depth of experience in developing initiatives to enhance billing, collections and operational results around the country and has committed to working full-time to further develop these initiatives," Brucker said. "I look forward to working closely with him to improve our company's operational efficiencies and to develop related strategies to complement our long-term business goals." Landon's 19-year career in the EMS industry is highlighted by executive leadership roles within Southwest Ambulance and Rural/Metro Corporation, including President and Chief Financial Officer of Southwest Ambulance, Director of National Billing, and Vice President of National Billing & Procurement Services. Since 2001, he has served dual roles as President of Southwest Ambulance and Senior Vice President of Rural/Metro Corporation.
