NEW KIDS AMBULANCE TO FEATURE STUDENT ARTWORK
Extreme Makeover-Style Unveiling at Drexel Elementary School’s Arts Day Extravaganza
(Tucson, AZ) Southwest Ambulance will celebrate the unveiling of the new “KidZulance” ambulance dedicated to children that features artwork by the students of Drexel Elementary School in the Sunnyside School District. The unveiling ceremony will occur during the school’s Arts Day Extravaganza March 15 and will mimic the TV show, “Extreme Makeover.”
The KidZulance is an ambulance dedicated to children complete with video games and stuffed animals to make the ride less scary for children. Southwest held an art contest with the Drexel Elementary students and a conglomeration of their efforts appears on the outside of the ambulance.
“Who better to design the art for our KidZulance than kids?” said Patrick Sullivan, Division General Manager of Southwest Ambulance in Southern Arizona. “Working with Drexel Elementary School has been great, and the artwork is fantastic. By adding video games, toys and stuffed animals to the inside, we’ve already had kids say the KidZulance is more like a bedroom than an ambulance! Thus achieving our goal, to make a trip to the hospital a little less scary.”
This is the second Southwest Ambulance KidZulance serving Pima County. The first KidZulance began serving Maricopa County in 2003.
Drexel Elementary School will hold its annual Arts Day Extravaganza Thursday, March 15, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. at 801 E Drexel Road. Preschool through fifth-grade students will experience the arts as 150+ local artists present their craft and talents. This year’s theme is “Exploring Culture Through the Arts.” Dance, music, painting and singing are a few of the disciplines students will explore. Students will rotate to 10 different sessions with the artists throughout the day. Each session will last 30 minutes to an hour depending on the activity.
