SOUTHWEST AMBULANCE TO CONTINUE AS EXCLUSIVE 911 AMBULANCE PROVIDER IN GILBERT

Gilbert, Ariz. (March 23, 2007) At its March 20, 2007 meeting, the Gilbert Town Council unanimously voted to extend its current 911-emergency medical transportation services contract with Southwest Ambulance through November 20, 2008.  Additional renewal options remain available.

“Southwest has worked very closely with the Gilbert Fire Department and has been an excellent partner,” said Gilbert Fire Chief Colin DeWitt.  The skill and teamwork between the Gilbert Fire and Southwest Ambulance crews are truly exemplary.”

“Southwest Ambulance has grown along with the Town of Gilbert and has built a trusted partnership with the Fire Department,” said Jeff Sargent, president of Southwest Ambulance.  “We are pleased by the opportunity to continue to enhance our partnerships and involvement in the community and look forward to serving the needs of Gilbert for many years to come.”

Gilbert, Arizona is one of the fastest growing community in the United States currently with around 170,000 residents and a projected build-out of 365,000.   The community welcomes 1000 new residents every month, and has doubled its population every five years since 1980.  The community is 8.5 miles Southeast of Phoenix, with a planning area of 76 square miles.  In 2006, Southwest completed an estimated 5400 emergency ambulance transports originating within the Town.
