SOUTHWEST AMBULANCE WINS AT PIR;
NASCAR/ PIR Award Southwest New Contract to Continue as Ambulance Provider
(Avondale, Ariz.) –Following a competitive bid process, Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) has awarded a 3-year contract to Southwest Ambulance for all ambulance transportation needs at the raceway including both NASCAR races.  The new contract continues a partnership between PIR and Southwest Ambulance going back into the late 1980’s.

The contract solidifies Southwest Ambulance as the emergency medical services provider at all raceway events, including NASCAR, providing medical assistance to both race participants and spectators.  NASCAR’s two yearly events in the Valley are the Phoenix Metro areas most attended weekend events every year.  During the NASCAR fall race, PIR becomes the 7th largest city in Arizona.

“Most race fans have no idea the amount of work and coordination that goes behind every event,” said Jeff Sargent, President of Southwest Ambulance.  “For big events like the NASCAR races we have 32 medical personnel on hand, 10 ambulances and three EMS managers working the event to handle crowds of more than 100,000 race fans.”

Avondale Fire Department is a valued partner to Southwest Ambulance and PIR during these events providing fire protection and EMS while Banner Health manages the three on-site medical centers.
