SPORTS MASCOTS TO DRIVE AMBULANCES FOR EMS WEEK
Football and Hockey Team Mascots to Drive Obstacle Course to Thank EMS Workers and Remind Public to Merge to the Right for Lights and Sirens

Come see the Phoenix Coyotes’ mascot Howler and the Arizona Cardinals Mascot Big Red drive ambulances like their team’s playoff chances depended on it! To celebrate National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week May 20-27, Southwest Ambulance will offer a condensed Emergency Vehicle Advanced Driver Education (EVADE) course for the mascots the morning of Wednesday, May 23.  If the mascots are unable to literally fit into the ambulance, gurney races and first aid skills will be conducted.

Ambulance Driving skills the Mascots will practice in include:
• Serpentine (Forward and Reverse) through cones at a high speed
• Parallel Parking
Other skills performed may include:
• Gurney maneuvers
• Bandage wrapping Skills

The competition between the Mascots will provide fun visuals and audio with the perfect EMS Week backdrop to recognize ambulance Paramedics and EMTs while reminding the public to “Merge to the Right for Lights and Sirens.”
